Hi! I’m Yosmar Monique Martinez and I’m the cookbook author and food enthusiast behind WHISK & SPATULA, the ultimate destination for home chefs and food lovers to learn a thing or two about cooking, cooking tools and food in general.
I believe that everyone, with a bit of experimentation and guidance, has the ability to unleash their potential in the kitchen and to create incredible food experiences. In addition, I have visited more than 70 countries and I’m always eager to replicate dishes I’ve encountered throughout my travels and share my knowledge and discoveries with others.
After teaching more than a decade, I've published my first cookbook, Tastes of the Camino. Winner of a Best in the World Gourmand World Cookbook award, this book features recipes of the foods I encountered while walking the 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, an ancient pilgrimage route in Northern Spain. Representing various towns and villages from St. Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela, the thirty recipes will wow your senses and give you a look into the food culture of the Camino and Spain. This is yet another way I hope to share my inherent culinary curiosity with an even wider set of people.
